Michael Leo Janac, 87, of Hagerstown, Maryland died peacefully Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his home. Born September 9, 1926 in Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances Blahova Janac. He was the husband of Lois Brown Janac, his wife of 44 years.
Michael was an accountant. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hagerstown and Monocacy Lodge 203 AF & AM. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Michael P. Janac and wife Anne of Arnold; David M. Janac and wife Kathy of Alexandria, VA, and Gary L. Janac and wife Kate of Annapolis; grandchildren, Alexa, Benjamin, and Ian Janac; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the youngest of seven children.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD with Pastor Edward Heim officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Frederick Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, 501 W. 7th St., Frederick, MD, 21701. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, MD.
