Meta Schott Wade, age 70, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the home of her sister in Taneytown, Maryland.
Born October 7, 1939 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johann and Emma (Dier) Schott. She was pre-deceased by her husband Paul Wade.
Meta was a licensed practical nurse and later worked as a restaurant manager for Denny’s in Virginia Beach for many years, until her retirement in 2001. She attended Bayside Baptist Church in Virginia, and was a member locally of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, the beach, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are sons, Brian K. Wade and wife Joan of Hanover, Pa., and Matthew C. Wade of Virginia Beach, Va.; step-daughter, Lisa Hughes of Catonsville; grandsons, Zachary and Michael Wade; brothers and sister, Bruno Schott and wife Cordelia of Union Bridge, Hermann Schott and wife Lois of Taneytown, Gustav Schott and wife Dawn of East Berlin, Pa, and Lydia Schott of Taneytown.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with Pastors Josh and Rachel Semovoski co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St. Taneytown, and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
