Merle “Frank” Franklin Garrett, age 71, of Taneytown, Maryland, went to heaven to meet Jesus on Monday, August 20, 2012 at his sons home in Abbottstown, PA.
Born November 29, 1940 in Silver Run, MD, he was the son of the late Merle Horatio Garrett and Aimee (Altland) Garrett. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God.
Prior to retirement he was employed at Utz Quality Foods. He enjoyed farming, spending time at the beach, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his son, David F. Garrett and wife Christine L. of Abbottstown, PA; granddaughter, Kayla C. Fritz and husband Walt of Spring Grove, PA; grandson, Brandon S. DeHoff and wife Heather of New Oxford, PA; great-grandson, Owen S. DeHoff; sisters, Emma Devilbiss of Keymar, MD, Joanne Morrison of Taneytown, MD, Martha Cooper and husband Richard of LaPlata, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond and Philip Garrett.
As per his wishes a graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown, MD, with Rev. Dave Riddle officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray medical expenses.
