Melvin H. Lewis

Melvin H. Lewis, age 91 of Taneytown passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Born February 12, 1933, in Cordova, WV, he was the son of the late Howard and Audry Lewis. He was the loving husband of Patricia A. Lewis for 31 years.

 Melvin volunteered, feeling it was important to do his part, during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany. He later became the regional manager for PSI Engineering, retiring after 36 years. He loved deer hunting, farming, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God for many years. 

Besides his wife he is survived by son Michael H. Lewis of Rocky Ridge, MD; daughter, Shelley P. Lindsay and husband Dave of Dallastown, PA; grandson, Kevin M. Lewis and wife Jessica of Hagerstown, MD; a great grandchild; brother, Vesper Lewis of Renick, WV; sister-in-law, Betty Lewis of Lewisburg, WV; brother-in-law, Gene Perry of Keswick, VA; sister-in-law, Harriet Harman of New Oxford, PA; brother-in-law, Larry Boyer of New Oxford,PA and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine G Lewis in 1986; brothers, Howard Lewis Jr., and Arthur "Buck" Lewis, sisters Marie Lewis and Leoan Cutlip. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Bethel Assembly of God, 1125 Frederick Pike, Littlestown, PA 17340. With visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Pastors Garry Sheaffer and Josh Little will be conducting the service.
