Melvin Wilbur Roscoe Hopkinson, age 70, of Ellenton, Florida, formerly of Westminster died on Sunday morning, June 14, 2009 at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.
He was born August 18, 1938 in Gamber, Maryland, son of the late John Melvin and Anna Birdolia Viola (Beegle) Hopkinson. He was predeceased by his wife, Deborah Catherine (Cook) Hopkinson in 2000.
Prior to moving to Florida he had worked for Koontz Creamery in Westminster. He retired after many years, working as a mechanic for Tropicana Corp. in Florida.
Surviving are siblings, Marymae Lindsey of Bryson City, N.C., Johnmurray Hopkinson of Westminster, and Annarebekah Rill and husband Paul of Westminster; nieces and nephews, Johnirvin Lindsey, Roscoe Lindsey, Arbannah Holland, Dianne Grote, and Doreen Seipp, and several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Interment will follow in the Westminster Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
