Matthew Harrison McKenzie Shilman, age 30, of Westminster, Maryland, died on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his home.
Born on October 30, 1984 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Stephen Ira Shilman of Lahti, Finland and Nancy Ann McKenzie of Westminster.
He enjoyed helping with theatrical productions, and worked for several years as a theater technician and follow-spot operator at Theatre on the Hill and the McDaniel College theatre in Westminster.
Surviving in addition to his parents are step-mother, Sari Karttunen-Shilman of Lahti; step-father, Theodore E. “Ned” Landis of Westminster; maternal grandparents, William C. and Willie Ann McKenzie of Frostburg; sister, Susanna Shilman of Lahti; brother, Samuel Shilman of Lahti; and several aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
Memorial Services and a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 1, in Western Maryland College Alumni Hall (the theatre building) at McDaniel College. Inurnment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster, MD.
