Mary Pauline (High) Wright

Mary Pauline Wright, 99, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at home.  Born May 18, 1918 in Carroll County, MD she was the daughter of the late William David and Ada LaRue (Coppersmith) High.  She was the wife of the late Samuel Paxton Wright, who predeceased her in 2005.

Mary graduated from Charles Carroll High School.  She was retired after many years as a sales clerk with J.C. Penney in Westminster. She was the oldest living member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren and was very active in the church.  She served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and with the Women’s Fellowship of the church.  She enjoyed vegetable gardening, flower gardening, canning, crocheting, camping, and traveling trips with family.  She loved spending time and hearing about all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Surviving her are daughters, Jean C. Frock of Westminster and Connie W. Gassman and husband Loyal of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Ronnie H. Wright and wife Deborah of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Kelly Richards, Steve and Michael Gassman, Sherry Nowell, and Jeffrey Wright; great-grandchildren, Tyler Richards, Lindsay, Molly, Kate, Sarah, Madeline, Alex, Emily and Anna Gassman, Taylor, Laura, David, Sarah and Mary Nowell, Isabelle Wright; great-great-grandchildren, Autumn Love and Paxton Richards.  She was predeceased by brother, Charles High; sisters, Ruth Bechtel, Mildred Wetzel, and Helen Flater; and by sons-in-law, Walter W. Humbert and Paul H. Frock.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Rd., Westminster with Pastor Tom Richard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Meadow Branch Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 16th at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
