"Aunt" Mary Catherine Wantz, age 92 of Westminster, died Thursday June 30, 2011 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. She was born March 13, 1919 in Utica Mills, Maryland the daughter of the late Luther and Lillie Measell Wachter. She was the wife of the late "Uncle" Norman Luther Wantz. She was a homemaker most of her life and worked in the sewing and canning factories. She was a member of Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ. Mary raised rabbits and helped her husband with the farm. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and gardening. She was the adopted grandmother of the “Rolling Clovers 4-H Club.
She is survived by her caregiver, Brian Owings of New Windsor; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 10:30 A.M.
at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Gerald Fuss officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
