Mary Elizabeth (Stinebaugh) Sullivan

Mary Elizabeth Sullivan, age 90, died on December 23, 2023 at Homewood at Williamsport. Born February 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Buck and Rose (Basore) Stinebaugh. She was the wife of the late Daniel Edward Sullivan, Jr., her beloved husband of over 60 years whom she missed dearly. Mary and Danny met in grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Hagerstown.

Mary received her diploma degree from Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She worked as a registered nurse for Washington County Hospital in the newborn nursery. Passionate about her Catholic faith, she attended Mass daily when possible and was always ready to offer prayers for the intentions of her friends and family. Mary and Dan were long term parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg while they resided in Waynesboro, PA for 20 years. Crocheting was a lifelong hobby and she gifted many family and friends with her handmade baby afghans and outfits. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family. We will miss you Mom! What a reunion there must be in heaven.

Mary was the devoted mother of four children, Sue Petr and husband Stan, Danny Sullivan and wife Tracey, Patricia Swope and husband Jay, and Beth Weber and husband Tom; eight grandchildren, Danny, Denise, Jamie, Josh, Sarah, Mitchell, Grace and Jack; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Powell; brother, Michael Stinebaugh and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and husband.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 47 Depaul Street, Emmitsburg, MD, 21727 at 11am. Burial will follow at New St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mary’s name to; Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or Homewood at Williamsport Benevolent Fund, 16505 Virginia Avenue, Williamsport, MD 21795.
