Mary Virginia (Kloos) Shindle

March 16, 1940 — January 22, 2015

Mary Virginia Shindle, age 74, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Carroll Hospital Center.
Born March 16, 1940 in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick William Kloos, Jr. and Eunice Virginia (Ollinger) Kloos.  She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert Lee Shindle.
Mary graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio in 1962.  During college she met her future husband Bob.  She began her career as a librarian with Cuyahoga County Public Library in Ohio and later retired in 2000 after over 20 years with the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library.  Mary enjoyed singing and was active with the Carroll County Choral Society and the Senior Singers.  She was the original secretary of the Choral Arts Society of Carroll County (Masterworks Chorale).
In addition to her husband, surviving are son, Robert William Shindle of Westminster and fiancée Diane Macklin of Baltimore; sisters-in-law, Doris Kloos of Hermitage, PA, Evelyn Inmon of Frederick, and Dorothy Shindle of Westminster; brother-in-law, W. Richard Shindle of Westminster; cousin, Nancy Lynn Theiss of Mercer, PA; nephew, Randall Inmon of Frederick; and niece, Cathy Lee Inman of Frederick.
She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick W. Kloos, III.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with the Rev. Charles O. Shaffer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Westminster Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
