Mary Jane Shauck, age 84 of Westminster died Thursday April 1, 2010 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was born February 14, 1926 in Parnassis, PA the daughter of the late Rev. Charles Collerd and Hazel A. Ross Menser. She was the wife of Edwin W. Shauck, her husband of 61 years. She was a graduate of Western Maryland College, Class of 1947. She was a teacher and taught Home Economics and French at Elmer Wolfe Elementary School. She was a longtime and very active member at Westminster United Methodist Church serving on many committees including Expansion, Miriam Circle and the Alter Guild. She was a member of the church choir and taught Sunday School. She was an early member of the Westminster Garden Club. She loved being a homemaker; cooking, sewing and preparing family dinners. She was an artist, wrote poetry and enjoyed reading. She loved traveling and music and spending time with family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Mary Catherine. McCloskey and husband Charles of Wilmington, DE; brother, Dr. Harry A. Menser of Sand Point, ID, sister-in-law, Edie Menser of Wilmington, DE, granddaughter, Tracy Marie Welch and great granddaughter, Teal M Koch both of Westminster.
She was predeceased by step-father, Harry A. Menser, brother, David G. Menser and sister-in-law, Betty Menser.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Dr. Laura Easto and Rev. Charles Wolf officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday 10 am until time of the service at the funeral home.
