Mary Wright Pond, age 90 of Westminster, died Monday February 11, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was born April 3, 1917 in Norfolk, Virginia the daughter of the late William and Mary Wiatt Wright. She was the wife of the late Robert B. Pond, Sr. who died in October 2007. She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church and former president of the United Methodist Women. She was very active and volunteered for Carroll County Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Hopkins Women’s Book Club.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Dr. Robert B. Pond, Jr. and Angela Pond of Towson, Mary Jo and Dr. John Winter of New Windsor, Bertie B. Pond,William W. and Peggy Pond, and Dr. Edward W. and Laurie Pond, all of Westminster, and Margaret P. and Dr. David Shifler of Boonsboro; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Earl O’Dell of Norfolk, VA; also 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday 2:00 PM at Westminster United Methodist Church, 162 E. Main Street, Westminster with Rev. Linda Warehime officiating..
A private interment will be Poplar Springs Cemetery in Franklin, VA.
The family will receive friends Friday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster.
