Mary Ellen (Eyler) Plaine

November 2, 1934 — February 7, 2014

Mary Ellen Plaine, 79, of Taneytown died Friday, February 7, 2014 at her home near Harney.  Born November 2, 1934 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Elizabeth Eyler Lawrence.  She was the wife of John K. Plaine, to whom she was married for 57 years.

Mary graduated from Taneytown High School in 1954.  She worked at Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown for several years.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baust Church in Tyrone.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.  She loved life on the farm.

Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Kimberly Sweeney of Gettysburg, PA, and Kelly Kreit and husband David of Taneytown; son, Kevin Plaine of Hampstead; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by granddaughter, Suzann Morgan, and sisters, Dorothy Frock, Shirley Fogle, and Charlotte Lawrence.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 10 at Emmanuel Baust Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jeffry Dull officiating.  There will be no public visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baust Church, 2930 Old Taneytown Rd, Taneytown, MD, 21787 or to the charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.
