Mary Ellen Lundahl, 82, of Westminster, MD died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. Born December 3, 1933 in Lancaster County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mary Fry Horst and step-daughter of the late Edgar Horst. She was the wife of Paul Lundahl, to whom she was married for almost 60 years.
Mary Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Damascus, MD, and a former member of the Damascus Garden Club. She was a gifted artist and prolific painter who enjoyed the beauty of nature, which was evident in her many water color creations. She was known as a master cake maker and decorator. Mary Ellen also enjoyed collecting thimbles and bells, and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Deborah Lundahl of Frederick, and Kristin Lundahl Mallory and husband Gregory of Charleston, WV; son, David Lundahl of Frederick; sister, Marilyn Huehnergarth of Lancaster, PA; sister-in-law, Ruth Kessler of AZ; grandchildren, Donald Paul Mallory and Katherine Marie Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 27015 Ridge Rd., Damascus, MD, 20872 with the Rev. John Brummel officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens near Frederick. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
