Mary Prewett Kolick, 88, of Derwood, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. Born August 13, 1929 in Avella, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and Elizabeth (Dankowsky) Prewett. She was the devoted wife of the late William Walter Kolick, to whom she was married for 46 years.
Mary worked as a checkout clerk at the Safeway Grocery Store in Gaithersburg, MD for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, working crossword puzzles, watching classic movies, writing letters to family members and friends, visiting Gettysburg and collecting owl and bell figurines. She was an avid fan of the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Steelers. More than anything, Mary loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her 5 children, Pam Kolick of Derwood, MD, Bill Kolick and wife Maria of Gaithersburg, MD, Becky Cary and husband Wayne of Pasadena, MD, Aland Kolick and wife Sandy of Mt. Airy, MD and JD Kolick and wife Valerie of New Market, MD; sisters, Adaline Prewett of Perryopolis, PA, Florence Bowers and husband Donald of Fayette City, PA, and Patricia Prewett of Mt. Pleasant, PA; brother, Francis Prewett of Greensburg, PA; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, David Prewett.
A private graveside service and burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in California, PA. A celebration of Mary’s life will be announced at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
