Mary B (Barron) Head

Mary Barron Head, age 81, of Taneytown, died on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Born February 11, 1943 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Catron and Bonnie Blanch (Hobbs) Barron. She was the cherished wife of the late James Letroy Head.

Mary loved to host gatherings at her home, cooking for family and friends at any time, day or night. She was like a mother to everyone in the neighborhood when her son’s were growing up, taking care of anyone who needed a bed to sleep in, or a meal on the table. She went back to school in her “middle age” and got her Masters degree and became a beloved teacher who made a major difference for the children in her school. But most of all, she is Mom. For everyone.

Surviving are sons, Eric Head, Matthew Head and Jimmy Nguyen; cherished granddaughter, Jordan Head; and siblings, Ann, John, Horton and Pat. She was predeceased by her parents John and Bonnie, also by her beloved husband James who died in March.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 12 -2pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Burial will be private at a later date.
