Mary Grace Wantz, 85, resident of Westminster, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 26, 1931 in Williamson, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Grace (Kriner) Shaffer. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Filmore Wantz.
Mary was a very active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Westminster, where she served as church musician (organist and pianist), Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. She loved sewing and sewed many garments for the needy and poor around the World. She formerly was a member of the Union Bridge Homemakers Club.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Daniel Wantz and wife Cynthia of Taneytown, Shirley Metcalf and husband Jasper of North Ft. Myers, FL, Marilyn Baumgartner of Littlestown, PA, and Kenneth Wantz and wife Beth of Chesapeake, VA; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Uniontown Bible Church, 4272 Watson Lane, Union Bridge, MD. Private burial will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Uniontown, MD. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First Church of the Nazarene, 147 Sullivan Road, Westminster, MD 21158. Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.
