Mary Katherine Devilbiss, 68, of Taneytown, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Gettysburg Center in Gettysburg, PA. Born December 14, 1947 in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late C. William and Bessie Barber Lowe. She was the wife of the late William “Bill” Devilbiss, to whom she was married for 25 years.
Mary was a graduate of Littlestown High School, class of ’65. She was an assembly worker for several years at Evapco Corporation in Taneytown. She was a member of Piney Creek Church of the Brethren. Mary enjoyed gardening, shopping, collecting and wearing jewelry, reading, being outdoors, and fishing and farming with her late husband Bill. She enjoyed hanging out with her pals, Gladys Baker and Pat Scott, and loved spending time with her family and her cat Yelly.
Surviving are sons, Jeff Devilbiss (Jennifer Hedrick) of Hanover, PA, and Brian Devilbiss (Michelle) of Gettysburg, PA; sister, Darlene Long; brothers, Roy and Raymond Lowe; grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Dylan, Cooper, William, and Maranda; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Edna Hitt, Rosie Long, and Edward and Francis Lowe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
