Martha E. Helwig, age 88, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday morning, February 13, 2010 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminter, MD.
Born October 3, 1921 in Union Bridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late, Stephan A. and Laura (Grabill) Boone. She was predeceased by her husband, John O. Helwig.
She enjoyed spending time with family, playing BINGO, working puzzles and feeding and watching birds.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Nancy E. and Robert Harrell of Westminster; grandson John and wife Trudy Harrell; granddaughter Stephanie and husband Bobby Kehm; great-grandsons, Tyler Condon, and Ryan Harrell; great-granddaughter, Lexi Harrell; sisters, Pauline Keeney of Walkersville, Shirley Myers of Gettysburg, PA, Pat Testerman of Taneytown, and Doris Haines of Hanover, PA.
Predeceased by brothers, Herbert, Donald, and Maurice Boone; and by sisters, Edna Krenzer and Mary Boone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Melvin J. Fair, Jr. officiating. Interment will be announced at a later date in Emory United Methodist Cemetery in Upperco, MD.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
