Marshall William Poland, age 88, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Reisterstown, Maryland, died on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Gettysburg, PA.
Born February 22, 1923 in Frostburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late John and Lula (Foutz) Poland. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Lee (Walters) Poland.
Marshall was a veteran of W.W.II serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He worked as a forklift operator and driver with the GM plant on Broening Hwy. and retired in 2000 after 47 years service. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Surviving are children, Thomas M. Poland and wife Mary of Westminster, MD, and Donna L. Troyer and husband Cal of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, Eric K. Poland, Robin N. Peterman, and Chad M. Troyer; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Poland of of Dundalk, MD; sister, June Rank of of Frostburg, MD.
A Prayer service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with Deacon Paul Cooke officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville, MD. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
