Marie Gould Woodhams

Marie Gould Woodhams, 85, of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.

Born February 5, 1931 in Jefferson, Maine, she was the daughter of the late  John Henry Gould and Mildred (White) Gould.  She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Donald Woodhams in 2007.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Marie worked for various Catholic Colleges and Seminaries as a secretary, including Catholic University, Marist Seminary, Mount Saint Mary’s University, and Seton Provincial House.  She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem – Middle Atlantic Lieutenancy.  She was a member of the Ladies Sodality at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Takoma Park, MD.  She volunteered for BINGO and the CYO, was a den mother for the Boy Scouts, and was an organist at various parishes.

Surviving her are daughter, Mary Woodhams of Taneytown; sons, Michael Woodhams and wife Peggy of Westminster, James Woodhams and wife Laurie of Bristow, VA, and Thomas Woodhams of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Aushton, Eric, Thomas, and Ashlyn; brother, Kenneth Gould and wife Grace of N. Stonington, CT.  She was predeceased by brothers Philip Gould, John Gould, and Roland Lanoue.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St. Taneytown, MD.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Taneytown with Rev. Msgr. Martin E. Feild as celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Taneytown.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD, 21787.
