Marie Josephine Kreps, age 69, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, past away peacefully on February 2, 2010 following a long battle with cancer, at the St. Catherine’s Nursing Center in Emmitsburg.
Born July 21, 1940 in Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late J. Emanuel and Bessie Mae (Warrenfeltz) Kolb. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul L. Kreps, Sr. in 1971.
Marie was a lifelong parishioner and communicant of St. Anthony Shrine Parish. She was employed by Clara Frock, Victor Cullen, Hillside Nursing Home, Mt. St. Mary’s University, and the after school program in Emmitsburg. She enjoyed spending time with her family, Apple Harvest time, and friends, Bessie, Grace, Liz, and family friend, Alice Springer.
Surviving are children, Elizabeth “Betty” Riffle and husband David of Thurmont, Patrick Kolb, Sr., of Thurmont, Cynthia “Cindy” Faulkner and husband Raymond of Emmitsburg, Susan Kwarta and husband Frank of Emmitsburg, Laura Faulkner and husband Fonzie of Fairfield, PA; a brother, Thomas Kolb and wife Maryann of Mountaindale; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
She was predeceased by siblings, Martha Mummert, Joseph, John, James, and Larry Kolb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Anthony Shrine Parish, with the Rev. Dr. David W. Shaum as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, where prayers will begin at 7 PM by Ms. Barbara Anderson, Pastoral Life Director.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either, St. Anthony Shrine Parish, 16150 St. Anthony Road, Emmitsburg, MD 21727 or to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
