Marian Jane (Allen) Byrne

April 10, 1927 — September 16, 2015

Marian Jane Byrne, age 88, of Westminster, formerly of Baltimore, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Sunflower Hill Assisted Living in Westminster.  She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Walter Byrne who died August 30, 2015.
Born April 10, 1927 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Walter Clifton Allen and Helen Olive (nee Warner) Allen.
Marian was a graduate of Western High School class of 1945.  She was a secretary with Kernan Hospital in Baltimore for many years, and volunteered with many organizations.  Marian was very active in her church, serving as Sunday school Superintendent with West Baltimore United Methodist Church, and later was a member of Catonsville Presbyterian Church and Perry Hall Presbyterian Church.   She enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, and listening and dancing to Big Band era music.
Surviving are son John Byrne and wife Cindi of Westminster; a daughter, Jane Peterson of Baltimore; sister, Ann Taylor and husband Harvey of Frederick; grandchildren, Brendan, Caitlin and Kirsten Byrne, S.Sgt. USAF Steven Peterson; and three nieces.  She was predeceased by her son, Steven Byrne, who died September 9, 2015, and two nieces.
A joint memorial service to celebrate Marian and Tom’s life will be held on what would have been their 69th wedding anniversary, October 18, 2015 at Perry Hall Presbyterian Church 8848 Belair Road, Nottingham, Md. 21236 on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 10:30 am, with Pastor Ron Kruzel officiating. Private burial in Woodlawn Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Perry Hall Presbyterian Church, 8848 Bel Air Rd, Nottingham, MD  21236 or to a charity of one’s choice.
