Margaret Alice LaRue (Buffington) Weller, formerly of Union Bridge MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 28th, 2021. She was a resident of Bethania Home Care, Westminster MD, where she had resided for almost 7 years.
She was born May 21, 1929 in Union Bridge MD to the late John Alexander and Mabel (Fogle) Buffington. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Alvie “Nook” Leroy Weller. She worked, along with her husband, on their dairy farm for many years. After retiring from farming she worked as a nursing assistant and physical therapy assistant at Carroll Lutheran Village, a job she loved very much.
Margaret enjoyed Sunday school, Bible studies and serving on the church board for many years as a member of the Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren. Her hobbies included reading her Bible, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and canning fruits and vegetables. She will be remembered for her love of music and singing. She was a very thoughtful, kind and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by one brother, Roger Buffington and was predeceased by sisters, Betty Morton and Rosalie (Stambaugh) Griffin. Also surviving are children, John (Jack) Weller and wife, Pat of Emmitsburg MD, James Weller and wife Dawn of Taneytown MD, Jay Weller and wife Melissa of Union Bridge, MD and Jeanne Watkins and husband Steve of Littlestown PA; grandchildren, Kim Burrier, Mike Catania, Tasha Himes, Matthew, Adam, Amber, Brady and Marina Weller, and Samuel and Molly Watkins; and great-grandchildren, Ava Himes, Evan, Rylan, and David Catania, Michael Calogero, Alexander Weller, and Jaylen Berry. She was predeceased by great-grandchildren, Lacey Himes, and Aidan McMahon-Weller.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home for the compassionate care they provided.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD, and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, October 8th at Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, 26 Pipe Creek Rd., Union Bridge, MD 21791. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, following the morning visitation. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg will be private for family members.
