Margaret W. “Peggy” Netzer, 100, of Frederick, MD, and formerly of Silver Spring, MD, died peacefully Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg, MD. Born October 12, 1915 in England, she was the daughter of William Ewart and Mary Eaton Housby. She was the wife of the late Calvin Netzer.
Peggy worked as a secretary for several organizations throughout her career, including the United Nations, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization. She volunteered for 35 years as a reader with the Metropolitan Washington Ear, a radio station for the blind, and was active in the British Commonwealth Society of North America. Peggy and her husband Calvin enjoyed ballroom dancing. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling and visiting many of our National Parks. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are sons, David L. Netzer and wife Anita of Pacifica, CA, and Michael J. Netzer and wife Tori of Woodsboro, MD; grandchildren, Danny, Ryan, Cara, and Melissa; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by all five of her siblings, Connie, Alex, Clem, Gilbert, and Reg Eaton.
A private graveside service at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville, MD will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parks Conservation Association, 777 6 th St. NW, Suite 700, Washington, D.C., 20001, or to the charity of one’s choice.
