Margaret Erb Mann

Margaret Erb Mann, age 95 of Westminster, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at her home. She was born October 16, 1913 in Westminster the daughter of the late N. Claude and Mary Elda Byers Erb. She was the wife of the late James R. Mann who she married June 10, 1936 and he died February 22, 1993. She graduated from Westminster High School in 1929 and Western Maryland (McDaniel) College in 1933 as an English Major. She taught English and French at Sykesville High School. After raising her daughter she returned to teaching at Mt. Airy High School where she moved and set-up the library in the new school, now a middle school. She was a life long member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Westminster where she taught Sunday School, was on the alter flower committee and worked as a librarian and historian and helped give tours. She was a member of the former Thursday Women’s Club.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Larrie Bostic of Westminster; granddaughters, Laurie Jeanne Bostic and her fiancée, Doug Menchey both of Hampstead and Jennifer Lynne Bostic, also her caregiver , of Westminster; nephew, Dr. William Budell of Atlanta, GA; caregivers, Beckie Kendall and Brenda Hastings, members of the Visiting Angels and Donna Metz from Carroll Hospice.
She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Erb and William “Bill” Budell; sisters-in-law and husbands, Shirley M. and Raymond Dell and Maxine M. and Alison Peeling; sister-in-law, Florence M. Fitzpatrick and nephew, Gerald A. Peeling, Sr.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with her pastor, Rev. Marty Kuchma officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Methodist (Providence) Cemetery in Gamber.
The family will receive friends Monday 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
