Margaret Alves Kinnaird, 83, of Thurmont, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Kline Hospice House. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Smith Kinnaird, who died in 1985.
Born May 21, 1933 in Aberdeen, Scotland, daughter of the late Robert and Helen Mackie Fyfe Bremner, she is survived by a son, John A. Kinnaird and wife Karen of Thurmont, MD and daughter, Rosemary H. Kinnaird of Gettysburg, PA, 6 grandchildren, Chris, Michael, Heather, Mandy, Erica, and Theresa, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a nephew, Billy Bremner of Sweden.
Besides her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by all of her siblings and a special niece, Lorraine Ferguson Sey of Aberdeen, Scotland, and her devoted pets, Pierre, Scott, and Bobo.
She, her husband, and children immigrated to the United States in 1960 and settled in Thurmont, MD. Over the years Margaret worked at Moore Business Forms, Thurmont Dry Cleaners, Claire Frock, Frederick National Bank, and at the family business, R. S. Kinnaird Memorials.
Margaret enjoyed knitting, square dancing, line dancing, traveling, playing cards, especially cribbage, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed visiting Emmitsburg, Taneytown, and Thurmont Senior Centers. She especially liked the rural atmosphere in Thurmont and cherished visiting our covered bridges.
The family appreciates the care and comfort provided to her in her last days by the Frederick County Hospice and the Kline Hospice House.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.
