Margaret Virginia Andrew, 86, of Emmitsburg, Maryland died peacefully Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Glade Valley Nursing Home in Walkersville. Born June 5, 1928 in Emmitsburg, she was a daughter of the late Rita Etta Manning Wetzel and Irwin Wetzel. She was the wife of the late G. Stanley Andrew, Sr., to whom she was married for 65 years.
Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg. She worked in various sewing factories in the area, and retired from St. Joseph Provincial House in Emmitsburg after several years of service as a nurse’s aide.
Surviving are son, G. Stanley Andrew, Jr. and wife Martha of Emmitsburg; daughter, Darlene Marie Wivell and husband Stan of Thurmont; 4 grandchildren, Sherri Miller, Mike Andrew, Michelle Wivell, and Stan Wivell, Jr.; 7 great-grandchildren, Danielle Kidd, Amanda Walker, Shelbey Miller, Nicole, Madison, and Samantha Andrew, and David Gelwicks; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Latelyn Walker, Eden Rauls, and Natalie Raines; sisters, Mildred Vaughn of Thurmont, Charlotte Livezey of Roswell, GA, and Josephine McKelvey of Arendtsville, PA.; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by her sister-in-law and friend, Iris Andrew. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Welch and Patricia Andrew. The family would like to thank the staff at Glade Valley Nursing Home for giving her excellent care.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St, Emmitsburg, MD, with the Rev. Charles F. Kreig, C.M. officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
