Margaret Buchanan Andersen, 94, of Westminster, died Friday morning, August 28, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born June 22, 1921 in Port Glasgow, Scotland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Michael Buchanan, a master shipwright, and Helen Adam Buchanan. She was the wife of the late Thomas Charles Andersen, her husband of 50 years.
The Buchanan family immigrated to the United States when Margaret was three years old. She worked as a stenographer and secretary over the course of her business career. She served in the Federal Bureau of Investigation during World War II. She was also a secretary for Masonic Lodge in Brooklyn, NY, Calvary Presbyterian Church and the Junior League of Asheville in Asheville, NC. She and her husband were always active in their church and both loved to travel and see the world. Margaret was also an avid reader.
Margaret is survived by her son Thomas William Andersen and his wife, Tina, of Jackson, MO; her son Peter Scott Andersen and his wife, Jean, of Damascus, MD; granddaughter, Rebecca E. Forsythe and husband, Robert, of Chapmansboro, TN, grandson, William C. Andersen of Jackson, MO, and granddaughter, Sarah-Jane R. Andersen of Damascus, MD.; great-grandson, Lewis Aleksander Forsythe; sister-in-law, Pat Buchanan of Santa Maria, CA; niece, Diane Brand and husband, Bryon, of Lakewood, CA; and many other family and friends. She was also predeceased by her brother, William John Buchanan.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Krug Chapel of Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Reverend Jimmie L. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Krug Chapel.
