Margaret Virginia Abrahams, age 74, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.
Born June 25, 1935 in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late William D. and Alice (Cool) Curtis. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Grant William Abrahams.
Margaret was a homemaker for most of her life, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her dogs, Teddy and George, gardening, and bird watching. She was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Grant “Jim” W. Abrahams, Jr. of Emmitsburg, Gwenda L. Wolfe and husband George of Smithburg, Elsie C. Dewalt and husband Richard of Emmitsburg, Margaret V. Eyler and husband Joe of Fairfield, PA, Linda K. Lancaster and husband Mearl of Greencastle, PA, Joyce A. Little and husband Chuck of Littlestown, PA, and Cathy M. Lewis and husband Buddy of Cascade.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Cathy Renner of Emmitsburg.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Dewalt, and by an infant brother, Donald Curtis.
A prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, with Rev. Devasia Pudussery, C.M. officiating. Interment will follow in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
