Madeline Virginia Hahn, age 96, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Brightview Assisted Living Westminster Ridge.
Born on April 3, 1920 in Petersburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Seymour Weatherholtz and Mary Susan (Ours) Lakel. She was predeceased by her husband, Grayson Solomon Hahn in 1994.
She worked for many years at a coat factory, then in the office of Random House in Westminster. Following her retirement from Random House she worked at the Cranberry Mall in customer services. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved knitting. She enjoyed family reunions, Rocky Hill picnics, and trips to Disney World and Longaberger. She enjoyed making baskets, basket collecting, and baking pies. She loved people and was devoted to her late husband and her family, and especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter, Carole Sue Murphy and husband George of Olney, Maryland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Murphy, Emily Marie Couch, George Paul Murphy, Jr., and Michael John Murphy; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Catherine, Madeline, Sarah, Rick, Joseph, Carter, and Matthew. She was predeceased by brothers, Otis, George, Jacob, and Harry and by sisters, Elva and Freda.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, with the Rev. Dave Bare officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Cemetery in Woodsboro, MD.
