Luz María Acosta

Luz María Acosta, age 95, of Colliers WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Born April 28, 1928, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Juan Acosta Ortiz and Concepción Nuñez Acosta.

Luz loved music, laughter, and good food. She cherished the time she got to spend with her family and friends.

Surviving are daughters, Isabel McDermott of Colliers, WV, Carmen Yolanda Limparis of Emmitsburg, MD; and grandson, Dan Turman of Weirton, WV; 4 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents; her brother, José Antonio Acosta y Norat; her sister, Isabel Acosta Smith; and a niece, Altagracia Acosta Norat.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 12-1 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD 21727. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at 12p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
