Lorraine Teresa Wivell

Lorraine Teresa (Willhide) Wivell , age 79, of Rocky Ridge, Md., went home to our Holy Savior with her family by her side on March 24, 2012 at the Gettysburg Hospital. Born July 15, 1932, in Harrisburg, PA., she was the daughter of the late Walter Joseph and Lillian Wetzel Willhide. She was pre-deceased by her sister Shirley Willhide Little of Emmitsburg, MD.

Lorraine was a parishioner at St Anthony Shrine Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Emmitsburg. She was a loving mother and homemaker on the family farm. Lorraine was a member of Saint Anthony Shrine Sodality and Tops Inc. She was also a member of Mt St Mary's University Aquatics Program since it opened and enthusiastically attended several days each week. Lorraine had a kind and giving heart, regularly donating to the Emmitsburg Food Bank, Catoctin Pregnancy Center, and Up-County Family Center as well as lending support to many charities and religious organizations. She was a lifelong avid reader and had a love for the ocean, flowers and music.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James Francis Wivell, Sr.
They were married May 5, 1951. She leaves behind thirteen children,
James Jr. and Nancy Wivell of Gettysburg, Pa., Phyllis and Robert Green of
Gettysburg, Pa., Mark and Lynn Wivell of Gettysburg, Pa., Victoria and Ronald
Stevens of Fairfield, Pa., Jeffrey and Tammy Wivell of Emmitsburg, Md., Angela
and David Goetz of Fairfield, Pa., Cecilia and Stephen Gregory of Libertytown,
Md., Douglas and Kim Wivell of Rocky Ridge, Md., Eric and Annette Wivell of
Emmitsburg, Md., Joyce and Brian Glass of Thurmont, Md., Andrew and Tara Wivell of Rocky Ridge, Md., Christopher and Mary Ann Wivell of Emmitsburg, Md., and Dennis Wivell of Emmitsburg, Md. She loved babies and was blessed with her thirty grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and over one hundred nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 27 at St Anthony Shrine Catholic Church in Emmitsburg at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Saint Anthony Shrine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 26 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm. at St Anthony Shrine Catholic Church. A Rosary and prayer service will be held at 8 pm.

Memorial gifts can be sent in her honor to St. Anthony Shrine Parish, Mother Seton School or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg, MD.
