Loretta Ann Valentine, age 77, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Gettysburg Center Nursing Home in Gettysburg, PA, following an extended illness.
Born October 14, 1931 in Emmitsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edgar Mullen and Blanche (Eyler) Mullen-Kepner. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene Edward Valentine in 1968.
She was a member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg. Loretta attended St. Joseph’s High School in Emmitsburg, and worked at Liberty Manufacturing of Emmitsburg, The Antique Mall of Emmitsburg, and most recently as a hospitality aide for the Daughters of Charity at St. Vincent Care Center in Emmitsburg. She enjoyed playing BINGO, and watching her grandchildren play baseball and soccer. She also enjoyed the music at the Village Hall in Fairfield, and being outside working in her yard.
She is survived by children, Tim Valentine and wife Debby of Fairfield, PA, Mary Ann Martin and husband Donald of McKnightstown, PA, Kimberly Keckler of Waynesboro, PA, and Michael Valentine of Biglerville, PA; grandchildren, Gene Valentine and wife Cathy of Fairfield, PA, Nick Valentine and fiancée Erin Klinefelter of Fairfield, PA, Terri Brandt and husband Jeff of Gettysburg, PA, Roy Hankey and wife Billie Jean of Waynesboro, PA, Brenda Kline and husband Jay of Ortanna, PA, Loretta Ann Wagerman and husband Troy of Waynesboro, PA, Jeremiah Keckler and fiancee Jess of Waynesboro, PA, Tina Hankey of Waynesboro, PA, Hezekiah Keckler and fiancée Delilah of Waynesboro, PA, Josh and Erin Valentine, both of Biglerville, PA; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolene Adelsberger of Hagerstown, MD; sister-in-law, Judy A. Weikert of Fairfield, PA; and 8 nieces, and 2 nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Dalton Valentine; a great-grandson, Tyler Wesley Hankey, and by a sister, Mary Teresa Weikert.
Pallbearers will be Gene, Nick, and Josh Valentine, Roy Hankey, and Jeremiah and Hezekiah Keckler.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St. Emmitsburg, Maryland with the Rev. Christopher Frye of St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Union Cemetery in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends both on Wednesday from 6-8 PM and again on Thursday from 9 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
