Leslie Kay Simons, 75, of Taneytown, died on Friday, February 4, 2022, at BridgingLife Hospice (Dove House) in Westminster after a battle with cancer. Born May 17, 1946, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lester C. Roop and Catherine M. Roop.
She enjoyed watching the original Perry Mason shows along with Investigation Discovery; she liked sewing; and spending time with her family. Leslie was a children’s home daycare provider for over 30 years, while residing in Taneytown.
Leslie was the loving mother of her two children; son Ricky A. Simons and wife Karen of Taneytown; daughter Kim L. Wantz and partner Harry Kay of Taneytown.
Surviving in addition to her children are grandchildren Stephanie Myers and husband Kyle, Amanda McCartney and husband Brian, and Tori Cregger and husband Chase, all of Taneytown, and Jacob and Joshua Wantz of Fairfield, PA; and great-grandchildren Landon, Owen, Connor, Drew, Harper, and Haydn. In addition to her parents, Leslie was preceded in death by her brother, Oliver Lee Weller.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the funeral home with Celebrant John Morrill officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery, 818 Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, MD 21158.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leslie’s name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
