Lenora Vera King

April 20, 1936 — January 14, 2016

Lenora Vera King, 79, of Westminster, MD, formerly of Taneytown, died peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Westminster.  Born April 20, 1936 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George and Ellen (Birmingham) Herd.  She was the wife of the late Ralph King, Sr., to whom she was married for 53 years.

Lenora worked at Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown as a packer for several years.  She enjoyed shopping, going to flea markets and yard sales, collecting Elvis memorabilia and dolls, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are sons, Joseph King and wife Connie of WV, and George King and wife Marsha of PA; daughters, Vera Ridinger and husband Emory Mingee of PA, and Irma Shriner and husband Mike of MD; sisters, Anna Phelps and Irma Faulkner of MD; brothers, Robert Herd, and Billy Herd and wife Cathy, all of MD; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sons, Robert, Ralph Jr., and Leonard King; daughter, Lynn Fisher; and siblings, Vera, Josephine, Leonard, and Junior.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
