Lenda Mae Tingler, age 85 of Finksburg died Friday February 11, 2011 at Carroll Hospice Dove House after a lingering illness. She was born November 8, 1925 in Quinwood, West Virginia the daughter of the late Charles T. and Helen G. Compton Thomas. She was the wife of Ralph L. Tingler, her husband of 65 years. She was retired from Telemecanique. Lenda was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church since 1954 and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
She volunteered for 17 years at Carroll Hospital Center as a runner and discharge person. Lenda was also a member of the Red Hat Club and enjoyed reading, baking , cooking, traveling and yard sales.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Dolly Norris of Hanover, Pa, Susan and husband, Hugh Cornett of Reisterstown, Mark, and wife, Lisa Tingler of Westminster and Ralph and wife, Cathy Tingler of Bridgewater, NJ.; siblings, Charles Thomas, Jr. of Westminster, Robert Thomas of Eldersburg and Mary Wright of Germantown, PA; also survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers, Orville, Herman and James Thomas.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Louis Piel officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Finksburg Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Mt. Zion Social Hall served by the Caring Friends. Contributions may be made in her memory to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 3006 Old Westminster Pike, P.O.Box 755, Finksburg, MD 21048.
