Leah Blanche Ohler, age 81, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at her home.
Born September 24, 1929 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edgar S. and Ada L. (Fravel) Smith. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph C. Ohler, Sr. in 2008.
Leah was an active member of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg having taught Sunday school and helped with the Luther League. She worked for many years on the assembly line as a folder and skiver at Freeman Shoe Factory, and retired from Liberty Leather Co. in Emmitsburg.
She sold Tara jewelry and was involved as a Boy and Girl Scout Leader.
Surviving are daughter, Sharon Winfield and husband James and son, Eric Ohler all of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Melissa Lewis of Cascade, Sherry Bomburger of Rocky Ridge, James Winfield, Jr. and wife Alicia of Winchester, Va., and Dustin Winfield of Emmitsburg; great-granddaughter, Courtney Bomburger of Rocky Ridge; sister, Claudine Harne of Newport News, VA.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Ralph C. Ohler, Jr., and by brothers, Harry L. Smith, Wilbur F. Smith, Lyle F. Smith and Charles S. Smith; and sister, Lillian Athey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 North Avenue, Emmitsburg with her pastor the Rev. Jon R. Greenstone officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
