Lawrence "Larry" Roger

Lawrence Joseph  “Larry” Roger, 86, formerly of Littlestown, died peacefully Monday, November 25, 2013 at Cross Keys Brethren Home in New Oxford.  Born November 11, 1927 in Harrisville, RI, he was the son of the late Omer J. and Alfreda E. Lawrence Roger.  He was the husband of the late Dorothy Marie Leduc Roger, to whom he was married for 56 years.

Larry was a contracting officer with the U.S. Department of Defense. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown.  He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.  In his younger years, Larry enjoyed playing ice hockey and coaching Little League baseball.  He was also a volunteer firefighter.  He was an avid fan of Navy and Notre Dame football, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Bruins.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and supporting their softball and Little League baseball games.

Surviving are sons, Kevin J. Roger of Hanover, Dale P. Roger and wife Kitson of Conway, AR, Glenn F. Roger and wife Patricia of Towson; daughters, Cheryl A. Hoehn and husband Dale of Taneytown, and Karen M. Roger of Littlestown; sister, Arlene Rousselle and her husband Roger of Woonsocket, RI; grandsons, Chris Hoehn and wife Janette, and Thomas Roger; granddaughters, Ashley Morrell and husband Cliff, Emma and Sarah Roger, and Heather Paxton and husband Wes; great grandchildren, Chloe, Emily and Nicholas Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 29 S. Queen St, Littlestown, PA with Rev. James Sterner as celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD with prayers offered at 2 p.m.
