Lawrence James Friedel, 76, of Hoopers Island, died in Salisbury on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Born May 10, 1939 in Baltimore, MD, Larry was the son of the late Conrad and Mary Friedel.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "Nickie" Friedel and 5 sons, Timothy of Dawson WV, Stephen of Taneytown MD, Michael of Peyton CO, Wayne of Littlestown PA and Matthew of Colorado Springs CO; 8 Grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Wayne Jr., Sheree, Adam, Allen, Johnny, Maryellen; and several great-grandchildren.
Larry served 3 years in the U.S. Navy, then worked as a plumber for numerous years before retiring to Hoopers Island, MD. He was active in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4H. He was a long-time member of the Mayberry Game Protective Association, a member of Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Company and enjoyed traveling with AARP.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 14 from 2-4pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, MD followed by a service at 4pm.
