LaVerne Elizabeth Vain, age 71, of Taneytown, Maryland, formerly of Catonsville, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, Maryland.
Born January 18, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Dorothy (Klemm) Flora. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jack LeRoy Vain.
She and her husband have known each other since they were 11 years old, growing up in the same neighborhood in Baltimore. She was a part time secretary for a printing company. LaVerne attended Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown since moving to Carroll Vista.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Gordon Wolfarth and wife Jennifer of Silver Run, Jack Vain, Jr. and Cathy Smith of Hanover, PA, and Brian Vain and wife Joely of Buffalo, N.Y.; grandchildren, Shaun Vain, Chuck Dandy, Maribeth Vain, and Jenna Vain.
She was predeceased by siblings, Herman and Leona Flora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Dr. W. Louis Piel officiating. Interment will follow in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
