Lavaughn “Vonny” Pearl Dickinson, age 71, of Taneytown, Maryland died on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born October 31, 1940 in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ruth P. and Ralph Shipley.
She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, William “Bill” J. Dickinson.
Vonny graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Emmitsburg and the Baltimore Business College. She worked as a medical office secretary with Dr. Welliver’s office in Westminster. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown, and enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandsons.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Hobbs and husband Jerry, Jr. of Taneytown; grandsons, Nathanial and Andrew Hobbs; siblings, Donna Stultz, Steven Shipley, and Sandy Airing all of Taneytown; 4 nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with the Rev. Brenda Shields and Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Taneytown. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
