Laura Marie Tarant, 72, of Taneytown, MD died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born August 4, 1945 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Monaco) Tarant.
Laura was a bank teller for Bank of America for 36 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown. She enjoyed reading, watching educational television programs, eating out and spending time with her family and friends. She loved animals and enjoyed the pets of her family members and friends, especially her sister Lee Ann’s cat, Francis, her neighbor's cat Woody and her niece's cat, Asher.
She is survived by brothers, Paul Tarant of Silver Spring, MD and Robert Tarant and wife Lila of Washington State; sisters, Barbara Stanley of Culpepper, VA and Lee Ann Tarant of Fairfield, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three siblings, George, William and Elsie Tarant.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD with Father John F. Lesnick as celebrant. A reception will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, PA. Following the reception, the family will receive friends for a viewing and time of visitation from 2-4 p.m. at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD. Interment will be Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Laura’s name may be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
