Larry Dean Higgins, age 59 of Union Bridge, died Wednesday November 10, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Westminster after a battle with brain cancer. He was born November 27, 1950 in Burnsville, NC the son of the late William L. and Maude Sparks Higgins. He was the husband of Mary Ann Moser Higgins, his wife of 11 years. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a carpenter contractor in residential and apartment construction. Larry was a train collector and model railroading and enjoyed reading the Bible and cutting firewood.
He is survived by sisters and spouses, Aileene R. and Eugene Robinson of Finksburg, Catherine and Earl Yingling of Westminster, Deloris and Arnold Wagner of Bel Air, Amelia “Millie” Price of Myrtle Beach, SC and Hilda and Ronnie Robinson of Green Mountain, NC; brothers and spouses, Rexter C. Higgins of Glen Rock, PA, Donald W. and Mary Higgins of Green Mountain, NC, Frank D. and Sandy Higgins of Lineboro and Paul L. and Harriet Higgins of Union Bridge; sister-in-law, Margie Higgins of Burnsville, NC; also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Burnard Higgins and sister-in-law, Margie Higgins.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Todd Comstock, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
