Larry Brent Eckard, age 83, of Gettysburg, PA died at Gettysburg Hospital on April 15, 2024. Born October 1, 1940, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Steger) Eckard
and Stewart Eckard. He was the loving husband of the late Hilda “Tillie” (Coppersmith) Eckard, who passed away in 2008.
Larry made many acquaintances and friendships during his life in Westminster MD, when he as employed at A&P Grocery Store, Washington National Insurance Company and Yingling General Tire. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed bowling, hunting, snowmobiling, and trap shooting.
He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing poker with the Tuesday Night Poker Group.
Larry is survived by his 4 children, Kenneth M. Eckard, and wife Janie A.C. of Hanover, PA, Douglas Eckard, and wife Jennifer of Alameda, CA, Pamela Nicol of Hanover, PA, Bonnie Eckard- Davis and husband Dan of Littlestown, PA, 7 grandchildren, Aimee Tasker and husband Toby of Hanover, PA, Dylan Eckard of Hanover, PA, Julianna & Christopher Eckard of Alameda, CA, Jacob Nicol of Charlotte, NC, Taylor Nicol of McSherrystown, PA, and SSgt Alek Nicol of Andrews Air Force Base, MD., and 2 great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Jaxton Tasker of Hanover PA.
There will be a graveside service on Sat, May 18, 2024, at 10:30 am at St Benjamins Lutheran Church, 700 Krider's Cemetery Church Rd, Westminster, MD, 21158. The family would also like to invite you to a Celebration of Life luncheon for the opportunity to connect, reflect, and share cherished memories of Larry. The Luncheon will be from 1-4 pm at the Hanover VFW, 19 McKinley Ave, Hanover, PA, 17331.
