Theron Lawrence “Larry” Clabaugh, 75, of Emmitsburg, MD and formerly of Taneytown, died on Friday, November 16, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg. Born September 21, 1943 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Theron George and Camille (Shorb) Clabaugh.
Larry worked in plumbing sales in Taneytown for many years. He was a very active volunteer with several community organizations, most notably as a founding member of the former Sons of the American Legion. He was also a member of American Legion Hesson Snyder Post 120 Taneytown, V.F.W. Post 6918 in Harney, the Charles J. Gilliand AMVETS Post 172 in Fairfield, PA and the Harney Volunteer Fire Company. He was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2226 in Littlestown, PA, Taneytown Rod and Gun Club, and the Gettysburg Moose Lodge #1526.
Surviving are aunts, Arlene Spangler of Harney and Arlene (Clabaugh) Weaver of Hanover, PA; and many cousins and extended family. He is also remembered by special friends, Eileen Hively and Diana Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Father John F. Lesnick officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Harney. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
