Kenneth Robert Wagerman

February 13, 1942 — December 23, 2017

Kenneth Robert Wagerman, 75, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 23, 2017 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 13, 1942 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late George Samuel and Alice Elizabeth (Ohler) Wagerman.  He was the beloved husband of Ruth A. (Shriner) Wagerman, to whom he was married for 57 years.

He was a member of Francis X. Elder American Legion Post 121, Emmitsburg and Knights of Columbus Brute Council 1860, Emmitsburg.  Kenny was loved by everyone he knew and will be greatly missed by all.  He loved being outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He loved telling stories (most true and some not-so true) and making everyone laugh.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wagerman is survived by three daughters, Brenda Topper and fiancée, Greg Hendricks of Hagerstown, Md., Bonnie Seltzer and husband, Tom of Chincoteague, Va., and Belinda Smith and husband, Terry (Smitty) of Fairfield, Pa.; one son, Jeremy (Jay) Wagerman and wife Dawn of Taneytown, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Brenda (Glass) Myers and husband Steve of Fairfield, Pa.; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Wagerman, Jennifer Smith, Courtney Abrecht, Jason Andrew, Kimberly Smith, Jaclyn Seltzer, Zeth Smith, Kyle Wagerman, and Kayla Wagerman; 10 great-grandchildren, Colby, Brody and Jake Wagerman, Hannah and Madilynn Forrest, Kylie, Bentley and Corbyn Andrew, Lily Wolfe and Calvin Abrecht; one sister, Patricia Groft of Gettysburg, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, William “Billy” Wagerman; one grandson, Sean Wagerman; four brothers, Richard “Bud” Wagerman, Jack Wagerman, James “Sonny” Wagerman and George Wagerman; and five sisters, Freda Eversole, Helen “Jo” Strayer, Betty Garman, Ann Moser, and Virginia “Ginny” Krietz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg with Rev. Charles F. Krieg, C.M. as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery, Emmitsburg, Md.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening December 27th from 6-9 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, Md.
