Kenneth "Gene" Mckinney

September 11, 1942 — January 7, 2018

Kenneth “Gene” McKinney, 75, of Taneytown died on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA.  Born September 11, 1942 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Alvena (Clingan) McKinney.  He was the devoted husband of Joyce (Snyder) McKinney, to whom he was married for 56 years.

Gene was a construction foreman for 46 years, first with I.H. Crouse & Sons in Littlestown, PA and then with Hoffheins Brothers, Inc. in Hanover, PA.  He was a member of Haugh’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ladiesburg and attended Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keysville.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife Joyce, are sons, Jeff McKinney and wife Rose of Littlestown, PA, and Mark McKinney and wife Karen of Finksburg, MD; brother, Larry McKinney and wife Dode of Phoenix, MD; sister, Janet Johnson of Fairfield, PA; sister-in-law, Janet McKinney of Abbottstown, PA; grandson, Jason McKinney of New Oxford, PA; granddaughter, Shannon McKinney of Williamsport, PA; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Danyelle, Jaici, Jason Jr., Dustin, and Brayden; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Robert McKinney, and a brother-in-law, Jim Johnson.

Arrangements are private and have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown.  Memorial contributions may be made in Gene’s name to the American Lung Association of MD, 211 East Lombard St, #260, Baltimore, MD, 21202, or to the charity of one’s choice.
