Kathryn DeFord “Kay” Trice, 85, of Denton, MD, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg, MD. Born March 5, 1930 in Burrsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Chance) DeFord. She was the wife of the late W. Henry Trice, to whom she was married for 45 years.
Kay was a clerk at Choptank Electric Cooperative in Denton, MD for 21 years and was an Avon representative for 32 years. She was a former member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Denton, where she was active in the United Methodist Women’s group and the Church Circle. She was past president of United Concerned Christians. Kay was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She enjoyed quilting, collecting porcelain dolls and lighthouse figurines, and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are son, Charles Trice and wife Lorry of Emmitsburg; sisters, Thelma Passaro of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Eloise Wooden and husband Richard of Summerville, SC; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Pauline Neal, and brothers, Earle, Edward, and Charles DeFord.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016, at Ridgely United Methodist Church, 109 Central Ave., Ridgely, MD, with Pastor Joe Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.
