Kathryn E. “Sis” Long, age 95, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Golden Living Nursing Center in Westminster.
Born February 18, 1917 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Ada (Hahn) McNeave. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Long, who predeceased her in November 2002.
She was a nurse at Carroll County General Hospital, when it opened in 1961 until her retirement in 1979.
She is survived by daughters Dixie Lee Backhaus and husband Roland of Westminster and Joyce Lynn Lakatos of Silver Spring, Maryland; sister, Evelyn Cheviliar of Hanover, PA; brothers, Kenneth and Charles McNeave of Florida. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by daughter, Beverly Ann Patterson; and brothers, Robert and William McNeave; sisters, Dorothy Bixler and Betty Hess.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM until the time of a Memorial Service at 7 PM on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Private inurnment will be in Westminster Cemetery.
